This post is especially for those waiting on emails, responses, and feedback. Oh, and my terrific friends who I’ve ignored horribly the past week and are probably wondering why I missed the Carolina Romance Writers meeting today.
I type this sitting yoga-style on an exam table in an Urgent Care, waiting to be seen by a doctor and get something to stop coughing up green gunk. Lovely, huh? This has been going on the past week. I should have come in right away for this, but I didn’t. I put my own health on the back burner.
My aunt is in the hospital and it’s turned into an episode of House. I’m having to be strong for my grandmother and my mom, while an emergency trip to Florida is still on the table. For now, the best thing is to pray (in their case) and send hope out into the universe (mine) from a distance. In Charlotte.
Oh right, I live in Charlotte. The DNC location. Another crazy factor to my life lately.
Then there’s my day job. My boss’ mother is in the hospital in Virginia and so work has been crazy in so many ways. I’ve met her mom. Over eighty and a semester away from graduating with her masters. A truly energetic, funny, inspiring woman and it breaks my heart for what she’s going through.
My father’s office is closing. As of right now, he still has a job, which is more than many these days can say.
Through all of this I have had to write or find a way to write. Just like right now, sitting on top of an exam table with my laptop. The time couldn’t be wasted.
Here’s the doctor…
